About

The PERSONA Project

The PERSONA project aims at supporting the development of measures and programmes needed to develop the human capital needed to improve productivity, adopt new processes and technologies, improve financial planning and business development capabilities, product innovation and research, deliver environmental efficiency and sustainability, marketing, and market development. At the producer level, the project aims at supporting the development of ongoing and lifelong education, training, and knowledge transfer programmes to ensure farmers have the tools and skills needed to develop their enterprises, maximise their profit, and utilise their resources in a productive but sustainable manner. This will require supporting farmers in integrating the latest technologies and processes in their day-to-day operations. Thus, the project focuses on harnessing the capabilities of educational institutions in developing the skills of the European agri-food sector.

Project Specific Objectives

Innovate the learning processes, products, and services offered by Agricultural TVET Education in order to build and support an inclusive and connected vocational education and training system, contributing to innovation.

Improve Agricultural TVET Education and mainstream innovation into institutional strategies, also through new digital technologies.

Enhance the ability of Agricultural TVET Education to provide transversal and technical skills for innovation.

Strengthen the relationships between Agricultural TVET Education and other AKIS actors at a European level.

Answering to the challenges in innovation management education for agricultural TVET Providers

Training agrifood innovation managers who can drive industry innovation, foster new business initiatives, and promote positive changes in the supply chain is essential. These efforts aim to enhance the value of specialty and high-quality produce while supporting the transition to sustainable agrifood production systems.

Investing in new technologies for agricultural TVET Providers

Remote learning provided some continuity in education during the COVID-19 pandemic, but Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programs were especially impacted. Unlike general academic programs, TVET relies heavily on practical and work-based learning, which was restricted by social distancing and business closures. Therefore, investing in new TVET technologies is crucial, as innovative technologies can enhance the effectiveness and resilience of TVET systems.

Strengthening AKIS policies in EU Member States and regions

Even though EIP-AGRI has mobilised AKIS actors and raised awareness about interactive innovation, establishing a more structured AKIS in countries and regions remains a challenge.

While AKIS plans vary by country and are still developing, governments are committed to advancing toward a more integrated model.
